Programs
We believe that children are active learners who need opportunities to investigate and explore in order to construct a base of information about their world.
Our developmentally-appropriate classroom is set up so that individuals or groups can move between spontaneous play and organized play. Through play, children acquire information, master activities, learn perseverance and focus, solve problems, and develop creativity.
Our teachers consider each child’s uniqueness and skill level when planning activities, allowing children to progress through the stages of development at their own rates.
Learning takes place naturally because it is child-centered and relevant. Our fun, creative curriculum ensures the emotional, intellectual, physical, and social development of our children. We offer activities that foster the love of learning, promote independence, and teach the value of helping others. As they mature through our program, we incorporate pre-reading and pre-writing exercises to help build readiness for kindergarten.
Activities Include:
- Themed holiday crafts
- Manipulative play such as play dough, cutting, and pasting
- Stories, music, and movement
- Outdoor play on our playground and in our sandbox and tricycle areas
- Special days such as a Chinese New Year celebration and Donuts with Grown-ups
- Cooking projects involving the whole class
- Science curriculum with hands-on experiments for the 4-year-old class
- Monthly field trips in our 3- and 4-year-old classes

Children & Company offers an optional, elective program for our 4’s class called the STEM Enrichment Program. The goal of the program is to better prepare our 4-year-olds for kindergarten and to provide a more enriching experience within our school. It promotes hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). With a smaller class size, students are able to explore topics more in-depth and engage in more complex projects.
This program is offered in five sessions, and each session includes approximately five STEM classes. Families have the option of participating in one or more sessions and enrollment is determined by a lottery system during each session’s enrollment period.

Field Trips
Field trips are a special time for children to bond with their classmates, teacher, and caregivers. Extending the learning process with unique hands-on experiences is an important part of the Children & Company curriculum. Children in our 3- and 4-year old classes participate in monthly field trips that coordinate with themes emphasized in class. Some field trips involve visits to our school by special guests from the community, while others are explorations of interesting locations beyond the school building.
